Problem Statement

Sometimes, you need to work with multiple repositories on a single board and need a way to distinguish between them.
It would be useful to assign a category to a task (for example, a "Frontend" project with categories like "landing," "app," and "wiki").
Tags are global to the entire workspace and are used for things like Bugs, Features, etc., so they aren't suitable for this purpose.

Proposed Solution

A CRUD section for categories within the project, the ability to assign a category to a task, and category display on the task card (positioned alongside the priority, due date, and tags, or to the left of the assigned user).

Alternative Solutions

the option to switch the custom field mode to display the field directly on the card (so you don't have to hover over the custom fields div to see the category)

Relevant Context

Kanboard has similar functionality and displays categories exactly like tags in the same list, but the management works as I described above (with separate CRUD operations).

Does this feature align with Kaneo's focus on simplicity?

I think so especially if it’s on par with tags.
